I notice that if I take a drug like xanax or pregabalin to sleep thru the comedown, I'm fine the remaining days. The withdrawals are mostly cravings. The comedown is the worst part of meth withdrawal. I remember trying to scrape remains out of a pipe lol

I am an addiction medicine specialist, like you and I have to respectfully disagree. Although you may not have thought of it. Nicotine is the gateway drug. I don't know of anyone who didn't start their "drug career" with a simple cigarette! But you are absoluely right on everything you said about Marijuana. thank you for your video. Clearly you care somewhere or you wouldn't be making the videos, but I know we're on from almost everybody. I know is on Suboxone. It's almost as bad of an epidemic as the drugs themselves and I know quite a few people who get addicted to the Suboxone and they end up with a mouse full of rotted teeth and when it's time for them to stop taking it, they have terrible withdrawals worse than when they were on the drugs themselves, I don't know I guess as long as they are really trying to help people it's worth it I guess

I've been trying to get sober but can't because I am unable to walk for the last year and a half, prolly from meth use and I still can't stop. There are no treatment facilities that can help me as I am on medical assistance. I continue to have mini strokes. I know how to get sober but that includes staying busy. Hey guys, I really need help, I'm trying to get off of pregabalin, my Dr's won't help because "I got myself into this situation", and my local addiction clinic won't help because, I have no idea why. I have no prescription, and I've spent 50% of the past 6 months withdrawing, severely. I know how to taper, but where I buy my pregabaling from only goes down to 75 what do I do then I bough scales and empty capsules, but I don't think I should be in charge of my own recovery, it seems like a bad idea

9:10 It’s protracted (brain) injury, not protracted “withdrawal”. Withdrawal is just brain change (which is brain injury) being unmasked. It’s not withdrawal after years of being off. Withdrawal insinuates the body is missing something that it wants back. Things can also erupt tardive months after stopping and can be confused with cravings. Especially after stopping years of cumulative use. I got injured both while on methadone + klonopin, and then again while stopping them. I was unknowingly masking interdose opiate withdrawal akathisia with the benzo. I am still clinging to life nearly 5 years off methadone and over 4 years off of klonopin. I have nerve pain from another planet. I have chronic akathisia and all kinds of other neurological madness 4 years after stopping.

A gate way drug can be different for different people . I’m general though usally the gateway drugs are the easier drugs to access. So like kratom for instants cuz it is legal and easy to access and can make you want to try other pain mediation like hydrocodne because of experience with kratom. Alchohol can be a gate way drug for cocaine cuz alcohol is legal and easy to access and people that drink A lot in adolescence tend to experiment with cocaine eventually. So I do think there are gate way drugs. It’s individualized though. But there is such thing as trying a drug and because of you trying that drug you end up doing other drugs that your prolly would never have done other wise if you wouldn’t have a used that initial drug.

Im two weeks into Gaba withdrawals and it's the worst Ive ever felt. I stopped cold turkey because doctors are idiots. The insomnia and anxiety are the worst. I can handle the hot flashes and painful joints.

I would say low strength prescription opiates. Hydrocodone, tylenols with codeine, oxycodones, The lowest strength ones mixed with Tylenol like Vicodin. I know a lot of people that started off really liking those and then ending up heavily addicted to heroin or methadone. It happened to me. I've been sober for years now thanks to Suboxone, when my kids a little older and done potty training and stuff I'm going to get off of Suboxone too. I got too busy of a schedule now to be able to handle tapering off. But it is what I want the most

Dr.B your the only bloke i have heard that makes sense. I'm 76 years old,started useing narcotics at 19, Heroin at 20 then a long haul with Methadone,Heroin up until 40, got clean for 10 years, unfortunately got useing again,mostly Methadone as it was easy to get .Finally got onto Suboxone after a terrible preciperated withdrawel and eventually got stable on a low dose (4mgs) a day, I'm still on 4mgs but i wouldn't notice it,just stability , I have the utmost respect for this drug as it's the only one I feel that has helped me genuinaly in my 50 odd years of addiction. Lately I have been watching all the tapering off Vids and listening to Dr's about useing 'Sublucade' and other drugs that help the Jone's, being 76 with a not to good heart and A.F. what are your thoughts comeing off with a very slow taper,over a long period? This vid seems to resonate with me as you r anecotes about long term tapering.Any help I would appreciate ,I live in Australia hopeing this isn't a problem.Ed

Kratom may be dangerous but it’s a whole better than me popping oxy all the time and everything is dangerous even water will kill you and you need it to survive. If you want to sound knowledgeable on something and want people to listen you should also do the minimum amount of research and learn how it’s properly pronounced
